South and East Asia Diploma Awards Ceremony 2018

It was a full house on 14 April 2018, with 116 diploma holders and their family and friends attending the regional Diploma Awards Ceremony at the Concorde Hotel, Singapore.

There was a buzzing atmosphere with lots of joyful photos taken to remember the occasion. ABRSM’s Executive Director of Global Operations, Tim Arnold, gave the keynote address and led the presentation of awards for the diploma holders. It was also wonderful to see so many ARSM Diploma holders at the event for the first time, being among the first cohort to take the assessments worldwide in 2017.

The ceremony also included performances from our highest scoring diploma holders. Our first performer was Matthew Yar Kwok Jway (DipABRSM Violin), from Singapore, who delighted the audience with the 1st movement from Bach's Concerto No.2 in E major. This was followed by Josephine Chong Kei Liang (ARSM Piano), from Malaysia, who performed the 1st movement from Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor Op.10 No.1. Giacomo Visintin (LRSM Viola) from Milan, Italy, and currently based in Thailand, played the Suite for Viola Solo No.2 Op.131d by Max Reger. The programme concluded with a performance of Chopin’s Impromptu in A flat Major Op.29 No.1, given by Chong Shu Ting (LRSM Piano), from Singapore.

Congratulations again to all the diploma holders on your successes and we wish you all the best as you continue your musical journeys.
