ABRSM releases new resources for singers

ABRSM has today (26 October) expanded its Songbook Series with the addition of five Songbook Plus books for Grades 1 to 5. Complementing the existing Songbooks, the five new books contain a diverse selection of songs, from core classics to songs from stage and screen. They Include fresh new arrangements, newly commissioned editions and English singing translations, plus notes on the songs to aid practice and performance. The books give teachers and candidates access to even more ABRSM repertoire in one place and songs from both the Songbook and Songbook Plus series feature on the ABRSM Singing Syllabus from 2018. The Songbook Plus books are available online from www.abrsm.org/songbooks or from local music retailers. Prices range from £8.95 to £10.95.

ABRSM will also add to its Practice Partner series with an app for singing. The app is a useful motivational tool for students to use in lessons or practice sessions, and will be available for Grades 1 to 5. Singing Practice Partner allows users to transpose all 66 piano accompaniments from the new Songbook Plus series into all 12 keys and practice at a tempo that suits them. The Singing Practice Partner app is available to download for free, with in-app purchases of the accompaniment tracks on both Apple and Android devices.
